According to the agreement between the National Natural Parks institution of Colombia and the four native indigenous peoples of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Tayrona must close its doors during the following dates:
– February 1 – 15 (At the time of Kugkui shikasa)
– June 1 – 15 (At the time of Saka Juso)
– October 19 to November 2 (At the time of Nabbatashi)”
This is to give nature a break in this one-of-a-kind environment found nowhere else in the world. The rest of the year, Tayrona Park remains open, and entrance fees vary depending on whether it’s high or low season.
